The Faces of Big Data cover takes a humanistic, conceptual approach to visualizing data. Created in close collaboration between the creative director and UCLA alum Mimi Chao—a celebrated Los Angeles-based illustrator—the artwork reflects a unique Bruin perspective. Chao brought her storytelling and distinct style to the piece. Designed to surprise and invite deeper engagement, the piece evolved over four weeks . A cool-toned palette set a quiet tone on the cover, hinting at the vibrant, playful visuals within—a narrative that frames data as both art and insight.
