Food for Thought

The Food for Thought issue marked the launch of a new institute for the study of food, showcasing UCLA’s leadership in food research, access and innovation. The cover and centerpiece featured ingredients sourced from UCLA alumni, faculty and students, delivering a metaphorical "box of food for thought"—a vibrant, multi-sensory experience connecting food with culture, emotion and inquiry. The design combined custom cookie-cutter typography, styled photography and tactile print elements to create strong visual and conceptual impact.
Award-Winning Cover: The Council for Advancement and Support of Education, or CASE, recognized the original cover design for the 2022 issue of the UCLA College Magazine with a Best of District VII Award—the first CASE honor in the College’s history.


To promote the magazine, a highlight reel was produced using a montage-style script drawn from the issue’s key messages. The video combined narrative, pacing and design to reflect the magazine’s themes in a dynamic, visually engaging format. Each section was carefully crafted to ensure cohesive flow and impactful storytelling.
